President's Message
From all of us at Canadian Valley Telephone Company, your community based telecom provider, welcome to our website. To our customers, I’m pleased to report that our emphasis on local is as strong as ever. We remain focused on our service mission to make sure you have access to all the benefits telecom has to offer and to be a reliable and dependable partner with the businesses in the communities we serve.
As I prepared these remarks, it struck me how much things change – yet how much they remain the same. When we first developed our website identity only a couple of years ago, we wanted to reflect the kind of advanced services that CVTC brings to our community. And, despite the monumental changes redefining our industry, we’ve maintained that commitment to improve and expand the services we provide. In just the short time since we turned up our website, we’ve succeeded in making high-speed broadband Internet service available across almost our entire service area – and, we’ve just reduced the rates of our residential DSL plans. Also, we’ve made available new long-distance plans – both flat-rate and per-minute – to give many of our customers real long-distance choices for the first time.
We look forward to these kinds of projects, as well as to maintaining high-quality service, because we believe that you have every right to expect it. I’d emphasize that though we may be the very epitome of a small, independent telecom company, serving a very rural corner of Oklahoma, we put great store in offering our community the same kind of products and services that are available in Dallas, Tulsa, or any urban market in this country. And CVTC provides an added benefit that most urban customers can’t count on – the attention and care expected from a local provider, based here in Crowder, with people you know and trust. In short, we don’t just serve a market; we serve our community … our friends and neighbors.
It is with that philosophy in mind that I’m excited to tell you of our latest initiative. CVTC is in the process of exploring the possibility of connecting you to one of the newest and hottest telecom developments, Internet-based video service. In Oklahoma and across the nation, Internet technology is changing the face of video delivery, and “IPTV” may soon stand next to broadcast, cable, and satellite as the way video is delivered to your living room. We’ve already made the network enhancements and are now testing the “gadgets.” We’re working hard on acquiring the content and making the business case work. If all goes well, we hope to make IPTV available on a limited basis as early as the second quarter of 2006. We‘ll be using our website to keep you informed of our progress in getting this new service out to you next year.
These are exciting time for our company. With high-speed Internet access and other broadband services, long-distance choices, cable and IPTV video entertainment, and more, CVTC can make good on our pledge to make a difference in people’s lives. Still, it is our local presence that connects us most directly to you. That’s just how it should be, because no matter where telecom takes us, the important thing for CVTC is that we are here, in the community, serving our friends and neighbors and partners. Armed with these new technologies, and a strong can-do attitude, we have the chance to deliver all that telecom promises … products and services that add to the quality of life here … with the best service to be found anywhere! My family and all the CVTC staff look forward to an exciting future serving you and our community.
